Number Of Victims Of The Collapsed Building In Miami Rises To 20

The number of victims of the collapsed building in Miami rises to 20. Almost 130 people are still missing a week after the partial collapse of some apartments.
Daniella Levine Cava , announced this Friday that there are already 20 bodies rescued after the collapse of a building in the city of Miami , while 128 people are still missing.
Levine Cava has also reported that the number of people located has increased, which is “good news”, since detectives have discovered that “there are several members of the same family” who had only been notified once. In this way, there are 188 residents of the building who have been located after the collapse .
The search and rescue operation was resumed on Thursday afternoon after being briefly suspended for “structural concerns” since two more victims have been located, one of them a seven-year-old girl.
In reference to the residents located so far, a court has ordered that they can claim up to $ 10,000 (almost 8,500 euros) in relocation costs, which must be paid by the building board.
Deterioration of the building
One of the twin buildings of the Champlain Towers South condominium collapsed last Wednesday in Miami. Later it was known that the residents were alerted in April of the “progress” of its ” deterioration ” through a letter explaining why its renovation had increased from nine to 16 million dollars. The twin building that was left standing has been voluntarily evacuated by the neighbors.
US President Joe Biden declared a state of emergency and visited the scene of the tragedy to try to support the victims.
