Travelling Tips For In and Around London

London is a big city and if you are travelling there for the first time it can be difficult. There are many things to do in London which is why you need to prepare yourself. It is a big city so you probably won’t see the whole place. However, there are a few things that you can see in the space of a day. Here is a quick guide for travelling to London.

Stick To The City of London

There are many places to visit in London but for your first time, we would recommend sticking to the city centre. Furthermore, it is going to be expensive so ensure that you save enough money for the weekend.

If you are looking to just visit London for the day, we would recommend that you browse the car parks which are available in London. Maybe park next to the train station with Care Park in London so you can visit somewhere else and save you travelling that little bit further to a more expensive car park.

Even the city centre of London is a big place to visit so you need to do your research on where you should visit. We would recommend that Westminster, Covent Garden, Soho, Bankside and South Bank should be on your list. Doing these in a single day will be difficult so maybe spread these across two days instead. Westminster is a must-do.

Avoid Bank Holidays

London is a ridiculously busy area so visiting when it is a bank holiday or during school breaks is the worst time. It is one of the most popular cities in Europe so avoid peak times at all costs. If you are visiting on holiday periods then avoid the weekends at all costs.

Don’t Try To See Too Much

One thing that you do not want to do when visiting London is trying to see everything in one go. If you are spending a long weekend there, it will make it much easier to do a lot of sightseeing. However, if you are just visiting for a day or two, look at online guides to see what is in the area for you to visit.

It is pointless trying to rush around and see everything that you want to see because you are not taking it all in then. If it is your first time, we recommend that you spend longer than a couple of days. This will give you plenty of time to see the main sights in the city. As mentioned before, you are not going to see everything in one visit so it is pointless rushing around to see as much as possible.

Try Pre Booking Any Events or Restaurants

There are so many bars and restaurants in London but nowhere near enough that you can just walk into and book a table there and then. Before you visit London, we suggest that you pre-book a table if you are planning to go for drinks and food. Furthermore, if you book in advance, you are going to get better prices as well as more chances and, save a lot of time. For example, many of the museums that you have such as the British Museum, Natural History Museum, Science Museum and many more will not cost you a penny. It is something that saves you a lot of money and is something to do. Exploring the parks, views, shops, and markets are all worth seeing. It is something different to what you would be used to seeing.

Use Public Transport Once You Are There

Public transport is very much needed in London. Furthermore, once you have parked your car, use the tube as much as possible as well as the buses. Visiting everything on foot will be tiring and the London transport system is really good. If you are using public transport, more specifically the tube, avoid catching it during rush hour. If you are not getting the tube and would rather get the bus then that is a unique experience and is iconic.
